    OCTOBER 2009 – PRESENT
    Appointed by Governor Rick Perry in October 2009, Justice Guzman took her private oath of office on October 8, 2009. She stands for re-election in 2010.
  • JUSTICE, 14TH COURT OF APPEALS
    NOVEMBER 2001 – PRESENT
    Appointed by Governor Rick Perry in November 2001, Justice Guzman took her public oath of office on February 19, 2002. She was elected in November 2002, to fill an unexpired term and re-elected in November 2004, to a full six year term. She stands for re-election in 2010.
    • Panel member for over two thousand civil and criminal appeals and original proceedings for a ten-county jurisdiction.
    • Author of hundreds of published opinions, covering a wide range of civil and criminal law topics, including issues of first impression and cases submitted for en banc review.
  • JUDGE, 309TH FAMILY DISTRICT COURT
    APRIL 1999 – NOVEMBER 2001
    Appointed in April 1999, by then-Governor George W. Bush to fill an unexpired term and elected in November 2000.
    • Disposed of over 5,000 cases in a three-year period.
    • Resolved hundreds of motions and presided over dozens of bench and jury trials.
